Water Valves
Water valves are another of those things that you probably don’t think about until they break. Then you have to learn a lot about them very quickly in order to fix a massive problem. There are a lot of water valve types, and of course, it would be difficult for the average person without a professional plumber's experience to know all of them. However, when the time comes to replace the main water shut-off valve in your home, you will be happy when you can find and fix it.
A water valve essentially controls water pressure. A Dishwasher by GE water valve controls the water going into your dishwasher. There is also a water mixing valve that controls the mix of hot and cold water into your sink or, in this case, dishwasher. The same principles basically apply to your bathroom as well. Of course, there are a lot of other types of valves that are used in your bathroom as well as other places around your home. Before you replace anything, be sure you know what kind of valve you need!
Concealed flush valves for a water closet or bathroom are often under the sink. The water solenoid valve may be much harder to locate. Some homes have automatic water shutoff valves. Electric water valves like this are a good thing to have, especially if there is a problem. The hot water control valve is what controls the hot water running into a particular fixture. Without this valve, water would not be regulated and you couldn't turn off your water when you needed to. Some homes have an electric water valve for this purpose, too.
Since there are a lot of different types of water valves and they all have different purposes, you will have to do a lot of research before you purchase a new one. You probably won’t know whether you need a Jeep water control valve, a foot valve for a jet water pump, or B&K water valve. Whenever you have a situation where you have something that is broken in your bathroom, you should take the broken part to the hardware or home improvement store in your area and ask someone there where you can get another part. Make sure you write down the make and model of the bathroom plumbing fixture you are trying to fix. Particular models and brands have specific dimensions and these are important in determining what size part you need.
