Drain Pans

There are lots of different types of drain pans. Some people need drain pans for chemicals, and others use a drain pan for water collection. However you need to use your drain pan, it is important that you use one that is designed for the purpose you have in mind.

When you are in your garage or when you take your car to get the oil changed, the old oil has to go somewhere. An oil drain pan is used to collect the used oil and keep it from getting on the garage floor. An oil storage and drain pan will have a lid and will hold oil until it is appropriate to dispose of it. Oil drain pans are often metal, as metal doesn't stain. However, when you are remodeling your bathroom, an oil drain pan really doesn’t have any bearing on your project!

A water heater drain pan is important, but of course it doesn’t go in your bathroom. In your basement, you may find that your hot water heater gives off moisture. If this is the case, you may need to invest in a hot water tank drain pan. This is fairly important, especially if you store a lot of things in your basement that you don't want to ruin. Another appliance that will have a drain pan is a washer; a drain pan for the washing machine is built into the appliance.

Water damage can also result from not having the appropriate shower drain pan. The need for a water drain pan in your shower comes from the excess water that comes from the shower. A tile shower drain pan is exceptionally important since the grout can easily leak. When you are installing a tile shower, a stainless steel drain pan is often put in underneath the shower to catch any excess water from the shower that might leak through. Drain pan sealers are then used to be sure that the drain pan itself doesn't leak. Another way to prevent this is to have a reverse osmosis drain pan.
