Shower Drains

Ah, the clogged shower drain. Why is it that this only seems to happen on incredibly busy days or at a highly inopportune moment? Of course, in order to clear a clogged shower drain, you generally have to go to the store, buy some awful chemical goo, pour it into the drain and wait any length of time until the shower drain clears. While most people deal with this on a regular basis – especially women with long hair that clogs shower drains – this may also be symptomatic of a larger problem. In the meantime, you can always purchase a shower drain cover to keep hair out of the drain.

Once you decide to remodel your bathroom, think back to your bathroom drains. Do you have a slow shower drain or bathroom sink drain? These are things that you can fix now, and often will have to fix if you want to put in a new sink or shower. Shower drain installation is, of course, a lot simpler when you have already pulled the shower out to replace it as opposed to having to deal with shower drain plumbing once the new shower has been installed.

When you are installing you new shower, if you decide to do it yourself, you should be sure to install a shower pan drain before you install the actual shower. Drain pans are generally underneath the shower fixture and are used to collect and get rid of excess water from the shower. This is a typical shower drain assembly and you should be able to get more information from the place where you purchase your shower.

Shower and bath tub drain replacement parts are often available through the place where you purchased the fixture. If you cannot find the right parts, try searching the internet for the specific parts for your model of shower or tub.

Shower drain replacement is not fun, and if you don't have a lot of experience with plumbing, you may want to hire a professional contractor to do the work for you. Remember that installing a shower drain involves a lot more work than you may think, and mobile home shower drain installation may be even more difficult. Any major plumbing job like this may require the help of an experienced plumbing contractor, so access the project before you begin to avoid any possible problems that you may encounter during the project.
